Our Mission Statement:
Russ and I very much value the idea of the small farm. It is a place where hard work and pulling together can bring about so many rewards. Since we began our alpaca journey four years ago, we have learned so much, both in caring for and appreciating these wonderful "criations" of God. It has recently become apparent to us, however, that due to Russ' increasing back problems, that we must soon say good-bye to this part of our lives. We therefore have lowered our prices accordingly in order to retire from alpaca farming. All of our animals are for sale at very reasonable prices and there will be added discounts for packages. Our babies from last summer are just adorable, and our young upcoming herdsires are stunning....you won't be sorry!
I have so valued the consistent personal care I have received from people like Cathy Bagnall (Turnpike Ridge Camelids) and Barrie Lynn Wood (Benchmark Alpacas at the Tin Roof Ranch). I therefore wish to give that back to whomever I come into contact with by offering that same kind of help. As with anything worth doing well, it helps to have someone nearby who can walk you through a new venture. That is what Cathie has done for me. I plan to be that same kind of person with whomever I help to get started in this rewarding business.
Farm Description:
Our farm began four years ago when we started with two female cria and a female llama. We had visited about ten farms over the course of a year, and done a lot of researching the industry coupled with a lot of prayer that this might be a way to help supplement our income. The tax benefits alone have been enough to convince us we made the right choice! When we found the animals we were looking for along with someone who was very knowledgeable and lived nearby, we decided to take the plunge.
Russ has done everything himself, having put up three small barns, clearing and planting 2 1/2 acres for pasture, fencing, and now constantly refining our alpaca project.
We now have ten males ranging in ages from 6 months to 4 1/2 years old, seven females again of various ages starting at 6 months, and one very sweet llama. Our foundation girls have been chosen based on the cria they have produced in the past........colorful and of ribbon-winning quality. We have bred only to the best herdsires, bringing quality and varied lineages to the area. Those include Peruvian Jericho, Peruvian Bueno, CPeruvian Camilla, Peruvian Silverado, Shades of Grey, The Peruvian Tin Man, Peruvian Hemingway, El Nino, Peruvian Camilio, Black Magic and Peruvian Caligula to name just a few!
Come and see for yourself what we consider to be a little bit of heaven in this life!
