FAQ About Our Online Herdsire Auction
Q Do I have to be an STA member to donate a breeding?
A No. We sure appreciate you asking! If you would be willing to donate a breeding to help out our organization, we'd be thrilled!
Q Where does the money from the breedings go?
A All money generated from this auction will go to Southern Tier Alpacas. The money will be used to promote and educate our members and general population about alpaca farming. It will also be used to off-set cost of The Hummdinger Show, the AOBA sponsored halter show.
Q Do I have to be a STA member in order to bid?
A Heck no! The breedings offered are drive-bys so you'll want to be close enough to take advantage of this kind of breeding, but we appreciate anyone and everyone bidding on our herdsires and donating money to our organization!
Q What is a driveby breeding, and how do I make arrangements?
A For our auction, a drive-by breeding is defined by the owner of the female bringing her to the farm where the male resides. The breeding will take place in a small, safe location. Then the female will be brought back to her home farm. It will be the responsibility of the owner of the female to check and confirm pregnancy. If a pregnancy does not take place with the first breeding, a second driveby will need to be arranged.
Q If I win an auction, do I have to use my breeding this year?
A Breedings purchased should be used in 2012 or 2013 breeding seasons. Some males may not be proven, needing more time. If you have questions about your breeding, please don't hesitate to contact the owner.
