Accoyo Apple Blossom
Full Accoyo and full of potential, that is Apple Blossom.
Her lineage reads like a who's who in the alpaca world.
Her fleece is very fine and does she have crimp and density!
When she was first shorn, we weren't surprised to see neck wrinkles, but this girl had them going all the way from her head to the bottom of her neck.
She will be bred to our 8X Champion, 16X blue ribbon winner, Accoyo Invasion.
These two top-notch full Accoyos should produce an elite fleeced replica of themselves.
Accoyo Belmonte
Accoyo Belmonte is out of the famed (now deceased) Accoyo Jackpot from Don Julio's Barreda's breeding program. Jackpot was a white, multiple Get-of-Sire winner who onsistently produced champions. And Belmonte is carrying on his sire's tradition. At the largest alpaca show in the history of North America and perhaps the world, Belmonte (full accoyo) was the White Color Champion. He's an outstanding male with brilliant luster, perfect conformation, and produces not only high quality fine fleece, but also a tremendous quantity of it. Belmonte has over 70 cria on the ground through 2006 and in all cases he has upgraded the quality of the dam.

Kettle Hills Farm, Mystic Springs Ranch & Alpaca Jack's Suri Farm
Accoyo Felicia
Felicia is a gorgeous full Accoyo fawn female with impressive genetics. Her ARI pedigree is short and very sweet. Felicia's sire is the infamous fawn Accoyo import, Felix, sire to numerous champions and ribbon winners in all colors, including true black. Her dam is NWA LTD Accoyo Viola whose sire is Victor, another fawn Accoyo import who is highly regarded as one of the best Accoyo imports and who has also produced champions and ribbon winners in all colors, including black. Felicia's grand-dam is Peruvian Celeste, a white Accoyo import whose import records boast a ++ for density, a ++ for crimp, and the additional comment of, "excellent fleece".
With these kind of genetics backing her up, it is no wonder Felicia is such a beautiful girl. Her fleece is incredibly fine with a micron count of just 18.8 at two years of age. Not only is her light fawn fiber pleasingly soft, but her staple length is nothing short of incredible. Even with the bold crimp style Felicia's fleece has, it measures over six inches in length. This is true of her first fleece and of her second as well.
Check out her full brother, Future Man of Hope, at Hope Springs Farm in Virginia.
We have bred Felicia to Accoyo Invasion, our beige 8X champion and 17 X blue ribbon winning full Accoyo herdsire. The pairing of these two will fuse the genetics of Felix, Victor, Royal Fawn and Avenger, a genetic masterpiece. This cria will be full Accoyo, should be colored, and will combine the elite fleece characteristics of two top notch full Accoyos. Felicia is due in the summer 2009.
Accoyo Mayflower
Mayflower is a full Accoyo from outstanding lineage.
Anyway you look at her - her genetics, her fiber statistics, her cria - she is an elite alpaca and a great investment.
She is currently bred to our 8X champion, 16X blue ribbon winning herdsire, Accoyo Invasion for a summer 2010 cria.
Accoyo Orinoco of Ideuma Creek
Accoyo Orinoco looks just like his sire, 8X Champion SA Accoyo Invasion, did when he was a juvenile. He's got stature; he's got presence; he's got attitude, and man, does he have fleece!
Accoyo Sunflower Girl
Accoyo Sunflower Girl embodies the trusted genetics of well known Accoyos & adds the proven yet uncommon genetics of rare Accoyo lineages. The result of such a pairing is this young, beautiful little girl, Sunflower, who just drips with potential and possiblity.
Sunflower's dam is Accoyo Mayflower, a Caligula & Vengador grandaughter. Mayflower's dam, Safflower, was purchased at Pacific Crest's Parade of Champions auction in 2003 & went back to Accoyos of America to be bred. Greg Mecklem recommended Vengador's Robinson Crusoe, & the result was Accoyo Mayflower, Sunflower's dam. Mayflower has extraordinarily dense, crimpy fine fleece. She is a beautiful alpaca with the elite fleece characteristics that high quality & well bred Accoyos are known for.
Accoyo Pinachi adds the proven, yet rare Accoyo genetics to Sunflower's pedigree. Pinachi was one of the best alpacas to come from one of the last imports from Peru in 1998. He was personally selected for Derwydd Alpacas by Julio Sumar. Pinachi's fleece was super dense, bundled and crimpy with a high sheen. Pinachi stamped these elite fleece characteristics onto his cria as proven with the show records of his offspring. Derwydd Alpacas reported that "the fiber on his cria is to die for". Pinachi died in 2007 from pneumonia, & with only 38 cria on the ground, his incredible genetics are very rare, very sought after, & can no longer be reproduced. Accoyo Sunflower girl was the very last cria sired by Pinachi.
Sunflower will be ready to breed in the summer of 2010, & there is no doubt that we will choose our 8X champion Accoyo Invasion for her. Invasion is one of the best ribboned, colored full Accoyos in the country & with the birth of his first set of cria this past year, it is evident that he is passing on his highly desirable crimp, density, fineness and coverage to his cria. Invasion will add Royal Fawn & Avenger genetics to Sunflower's already impressive pedigree.
Accoyo Thai Blossom
Spectacular full Accoyo female from the best genetics out there - a Caligula grandaughter, an Accoyo American Atticus daughter and a maternal Accoyo Zen Do grandaughter!
This girl is as beautiful as her genetics suggest.
Her micron count and co-efficient of variation as well as her lineage reinforce just how elite this girl is.
She is at the beginning of her reproductive career having given birth to her first cria last year.
Apple Blossom didn't fall far from the tree!
She is just as soft, crimpy and beautiful as her mom!
ADDW Stephanie
Stephi is a gorgeous light brown maiden that carries genetics from the Accoyo Victor line. EL ACCOYO ASTRO
El Toro (Studmaster Male)
For those who appreciate fine dense fleece, Studmaster El Toro makes a lasting impression. His correct frame, true-to-type head and commanding presence are sure to catch your eye. The mark of a superior alpaca is the ability to retain fineness. El Toro does. When Cameron Holt of Australia first saw El Toro, he remarked on how fine he was even at 9 years of age. And today, he still produces fiber competitive with the finest alpacas in America. Cameron Holt compared El Toro's fleece to the Hemingway fleece style and quality, finding them remarkably similar. As alpacas age, their fleece becomes coarser, crimp broadens and may disappear altogether, but superior alpacas such as El Toro retain their crimp, low micron count and exquisite handle. He is a superior breeding male. El Toro's award winning cria are easy to spot in any show ring since he stamps out carbon copies. For this we have given him the nickname Xerox. That's top-quality genetics at work. El Toro represents a picture of the herd that diligent breeders can build here in the U.S.

Ideuma Creek's Peruvian Samantha

She is a full Peruvian beauty from impressive lineage.
Her sire is our own Peruvian The Scotsman who is a champion himself with 5 blue ribbons.
Sam has both maternal and parternal blues and championships siblings.
She is a great investment and should be able to produce every color alpaca for you - including grey and black!
Ideuma Creek's Rosalita
Rosalita has the most gorgeous colored fleece. She is a medium rose grey & looks just like her paternal sister, Ideuma Creek's Berries & Cream, when she was younger. She is a real looker.
Rosalita is the product of our two friendliest & sweetest alpacas, Welcome Cymon. We've had both of Rosalita's parents for over a decade on our farm. Her dam, Stranger's Little Welcome, is without a doubt, the easiest alpaca we've ever had on our farm. She has given 12 cria, one every year without exception. Welcome has always gotten bred on her first or second breeding, held her pregnancies with no problem, had no birthing issues what-so-ever, & she is the greatest mom around - plenty of milk and attention for her cria. Rosalita's maternal granddam, Welcome's dam, Ginger is the exact same way. Ginger is 17 years old, got bred with her very first breeding, & will give us her 15th cria next summer. The track records of both her dam & granddam give a strong indication that Rosalita will lead just as healthy a reproductive life as they have. After having several girls here at the farm this year for outside breedings that had trouble getting bred and/or staying bred, this is a trait that I appreciate even more than ever.
Rosalita is as straight and correct as they come. She is a proud young girl with an excellent bite. Neither her sire nor her dam have ever gotten their teeth trimmed in the last 12 years, not once!
Rosalita comes with a breeding to the Ideuma Creek herdsire of your choice. We would recommend our blue ribbon full Accoyo, Ironman or our newest herdsire, fawn color champion Accoyo Zagot. This would give you a 50% shot at a rose grey who would be half Accoyo. Ironman has incredibly dense fleece & has been passing on crimpy soft fiber to his cria. Accoyo Zagot is a fawn El Nino son. His genetics are unbeatable & since both his sire & dam are recently passed, unable to be dublicated. Either would be a perfect match for Rosalita.

Peruvian Bambi
Bambi has seven ribbons - including three blues - to her name.
She is a full Peruvian knock-out from outstanding lineage including Conan and Black Magic.
With her 2009 cria, we were elated to find out that she does cover black and can and does produce black cria.
She is bred back to Peruvian Silver Bullet for a cria in the summer of 2010.
She is an excellent blue ribbon investment.
Peruvian Cannonero
This champion male boasts Peruvian Hemingway and Accoyo Camilio as his grandsires, and multiple champ PCA Spartacus as his sire. With these genetics from the best of the best, he carries on their tradition of producing champions.
Peruvian Caramel
Cara is absolutely adorable. She has the cutest fiber blocked face and the most gorgeous topknot. Cara's fleece is exceptionally soft with a mean fiber diameter of only 19.7 microns on her second fleece.
Cara's sire is Peruvian Conan, sire to six time fawn champion, Lancaster, two time true black champion, Kodiak, and champion fawn, Fabian. Conan is known for adding beautiful crimpy fleece and staple length to his award winning cria. Cara's dam, Xtra Special Missy is a Peruvian Black Magic daughter and a Peruvain Jaxon grandaughter. There's plenty of quality black in her genes. Since both her dam and sire cover black, there is a darn good chance that Cara will be capable of producing black cria too.
Cara's fleece is just what you would expect - very soft, dense and crimpy.
Check out her full sister, Peruvian Bambi, also on our farm. Bambi is a multiple blue ribbon winner, and Caramel's maternal sister, Ideuma Creek's Peruvian Marnia just took a CHAMPIONSHIP in black!
Cara is bred to our blue ribbon full Peruvian herdsire, Silver Bullet for a fawn, black or grey cria in the summer of 2010.
Peruvian Carmita
Carmita is from the '98 Peruvian importation where each and every alpaca was scrutinized before being allowed to enter the U.S. We wanted only the best entering into our national herd, and Carmita was chosen. It's not difficult to see why.
Carmita is very straight and correct with gorgeous dark fleece and a sweet face. Her fiber is still quite dense and crimpy and the quality of her genetics shows through her offspring. Her '06 cria has some of the most incredible, crimpy bundling, bright fleece we've ever seen. It's just amazing - nothing but corkscrew curls consistently from topknot to toes. Carmita's '07 cria is equally as beautiful but in a gorgeous carmel fawn.
Carmita is an excellent producer who is known for her beautiful cria. She will be bred to our full Peruvian herdsire, Silver Bullet, a blue ribbon dark silver grey. This pairing should produce a dark cria - and a darn good chance of a grey one to boot!
Peruvian Dainty
Peruvian Georgie's Girl
Georgie Girl is a fleece factory! She has beautiful, soft fiber with incredible staple length, nice crimp and good density. As is often the case, this kind of fiber is backed up with great genetics. Georgie Girl's sire is William, a Conan son. She also has Hemingway on her paternal pedigree. Her dam is Accoyo Georgia who is out of Canada. This makes Georgie Girl's Accoyo genetics rather rare and easy to breed to in this country.
Georgie is a beautiful girl with very correct conformation (especially apparent after all that fleece was shorn off!) and a perfect bite. She has a very sweet, easy-going personality and is very easy to work with.
Georgie covers at least fawn and possibly black as her sire is fawn. This girl will be able to produce nice colored full Peruvians. She comes with a breeding to the Ideuma Creek herdsire of your choice. And there are many quality ones to choose from! We would like to recommend our fawn color champion Accoyo Zagot. His fleece is spectacular and these two should make one heck of a nice cria. Another great choice would be our 8X Accoyo champion, Invasion, whose Ideuma Creek cria have taken blues, reserve color championships, and the special awards of best brightness and best crimp. Other breeding options for Georgie Girl include blue ribbon Accoyo Ironman, a Victor son, True Black Reserve Color Champion, The Scotsman, Full Alianza Solar de Peru, Perucoyo Icon or our blue ribbon boy, Peruvian Silver Bullet. Sound like maybe too many good choices? Pay cash for Georgie Girl, and we'll make it easier for you. You can have 2 breedings instead of just one!
Peruvian Maybe It's Maybelline!
Full Peruvian 1/4 Accoyo
Dark Silver Grey Girl
Peruvian Melody
Melody has just about everything going for her. She is a full Peruvian true black female from outstanding lineage. She is the full sister to 2X true black champion Kodiak and the paternal sister to 6X fawn champion Lancaster.
Mel's bright black fleece is shiny and slick. Her conformation is excellent, and her bite is right on.
Mel is one of only a very few full Peruvain true black girls out of Conan. We happen to own two of them. We are willing to part with either Mel or Raven, but not both. This line is one we definitely want to keep in our own breeding program.
We will include a breeding to the Ideuma Creek herdsire of your choice with Mel's purchase price. To keep the black / silver grey color, we would recommend our blue ribbon silver grey, Silver Bullet, our reserve color champion, The Scotsman or our half Accoyo full Peruvian Victor son, Icon. Any of these three should make a full Peruvian black or silver grey when paired with Melody. If you want to add Accoyo to her pedigree, we have those options too! Pair Mel with 8X champion Accoyo Invasion or fawn color champion Accoyo Zagot or blue ribbon Accoyo Ironman.
Mel is one gorgeous girl and she should have gorgeous cria, especially with any one of the before-mentioned herdsires!
Peruvian Mohammed's Escape
Lovely Brown Suri Boy
Peruvian Raven
Raven is one of only a very few black full Peruvian females out of Conan. We were delighted when she was born here on our farm! Raven is the quality black that you get when you cross two top-notch alpacas that cover black.
Conan, Raven's sire is a fawn full Peruvian import whose offspring have done incredibly well in the showring. Raven's paternal brother, Lancaster, is a 6X color champion in fawn, and her paternal brother, Kodiak, is a 2X champion in black.
Raven's dam, Peruvian Renatta, is a gorgeous maroon girl with dense soft fiber and a great face.
Raven has incredibly dense, crimpy soft fiber. She stands proud and strong with a presence. Her face is gorgeous and looks like it will develop into one of those fiber filled teddy bear faces.
Raven is not for sale at this time. With the rarity of her genes in true black, we'd like to keep her as part of our foundation herd at least for a little while.
Since we have just acquired Melody, another true black full Peruvian Conan daughter, we are willing to part with either Raven or Melody, but not both!
Peruvian Renatta
Everyone who comes to visit our farm comments on Renatta. She's just such a striking color. As you can tell from her photos, when she is in full fleece, she is so dark, she almost looks like a bay black. But when shorn, Renatta's fleece exhibits a gorgeous deep maroon color with black points.
Both of Renatta's parents are colorful '98 Peruvian imports. This explains her beautiful color and her ability to pass on color - including true black. Renatta not only has colorful fleece, she has dense, crimpy fleece and amazing coverage, even in her ears!
Renatta gave us a gorgeous true black full Peruvian girl out of Conan in 2008. She's dense, soft, crimpy, and oh-what an adorable fiber filled face! Raven is one of only two true black full Peruvian females out of Conan. We feel lucky to have her! In 2009 Renatta did it again. She gave us a true black boy out of our champion black herdsire, The Scotsman.
For her 2010 cria, we bred to her our blue ribbon silver grey herdsire, Silver Bullet. This pairing should produce at least maroon and very possibly black, rose grey or silver grey!
Peruvian Rhonda
Rhonda is a full Peruvian beauty.
She has multiple blue ribbons, and her 2008 cria, Ideuma Creek's Independence took a blue and best brightness in her very first fleece show.
Among Rhonda's many attributes is her ability to keep her very fine, soft fleece well into her adult years.
Her micron stats are impressive even as she ages.
This is a quality very highly valued in our national herd and one that is highly heritable.
Peruvian Satanta
A full Peruvian and 1/4 Accoyo, he's the product of elite progeny-tested Studmaster genetics from both sides of his pedigree. His dam is out of Studmaster Accoyo Pachacuti. And his sire is Studmaster K-2, known for producing cria that possess his same traits and have fleeces ranking them among the top U.S. alpacas.
Peruvian The Scotsman
Peruvian The Scotman is a Reserve Color Champion, four time blue ribbon winner, solid true black, full Peruvian, son of AOBA National Conference Reserve Color Champion, has more than ten ribbons to his name and now is proving he can pass on his accolades by producing blue ribbon cria in all colors!
Peruvian Ultra Violet
Dam to champion, Luminescence, Ultra Violet continues to hold her fineness and crimp well into her mature years.
In fact at nine years of age, her micron count is still just 21.7, and her coefficient of variation is an impressive 17.7!

His daughter, Ideuma Creek's Peruvian Independence has a blue ribbon and the special award of best brightness (out of 74 fleeces!)
His other daughter, Ideuma Creek's Peruvian Luminescence has a Reserve Color CHAMPIONSHIP, a blue ribbon, the special award of best crimp (out of 97 fleeces) AND the special award of best brightness (out of 199 fleeces!)
His son, Ideuma Creek's Peruvian Kaptain has a color championship, a blue, the special award of best crimp, AND he placed 3rd at the AOBA National Fleece Show.
The only two alpacas that beat him were both from Magical, and the second place fleece had a score of 92.5.
Kappy's was 92!
These are the first three Invasion cria fleeces that we've shown.

Scotty's Fion Geal
This little girl is named in Scottish in honor of her champion sire, Peruvian The Scotsman. Her name, Fion Geal, means white wine in Scottish. We call her Fiona for short.
Her sire is our true black reserve color champion, Peruvian The Scotsman. He's got quite a show record with 10 ribbons to his name including 4 blues from some impressive shows.
Fiona is also out of Tuaca, the very first female alpaca we purchased. She is now 16 years old and still continues to give us a healthy cria every year. We have owned Tuaca for 11 years now, and Fiona is the 11th cria that Tuaca has given us! Fiona comes from incredibly healthy stock, no health issues here! Just plenty of milk, high IgGs, easy breeding, and great motherly instincts!
With her brown dam and her champion true black sire, Fiona is sure to have dark cria in her future.
We have bred Fionna to our 8X Champion, 16X blue ribbon winning full Accoyo herdsire, Accoyo Invasion for a summer 2010 cria.
Sedona's Jombee
Jombee is gorgeous! He is the first suri born on BHFFF so maybe that has something to do with it.. He just shines. His fiber is beautifully penciled and he has a great personality. Jombee has been gelded and is ready to make a nice fiber animal and a wonderful pet. He is very friendly and easy to work around.

Her latest cria, Ideuma Creek's Peruvian Kaptain is already a CHAMPION and is in the process of gathering ribbons galore for his new owner, Leslie Oliver of Limestone Creek Alpacas.
Kapina's first cria here, Penelope, is also a CHAMPION with 7 blue ribbons to her name.

Yeti
Yeti is a wonderful polydactyl (having multipe "toes") suri boy who is here at our farm.
When he was born, we were rather frightened of what would become of him.
Would he be able to walk, run, etc.
He is now well into adulthood and is as happy as can be.
I teach 8th grade, and when I told my students about Yeti and told them how we were going to take him to Cornell to have his extra little feet taken off, my students looked at me in horror.
Their young wise voices told me that I had spent an entire year trying to teach them that differences didn't matter and now I was trying to make Yeti be like all of my other alpacas through surgery that would certainly hurt him.
It was one of those teachable moments where my kids taught me!
If you come to our farm, you can see Yeti and all 6 of his little feet!
You'll fall in love with him.
In Peru polydactylism is considered good luck.
We have to agree!
John and I feel fortunate to have Yeti here on our farm.

HaSu Establishes New Breeding Tools - EPDs
By HaSu Ranch: Susan Muther and Hazen Reed
HaSu Ranch and its sister company, Breedworks have joined with Mike Safley to create a tool to provide cutting-edge science to the alpaca industry which will allow breeders of all sizes to track the ability of individual sires to transfer specific desired fiber traits to their off-spring. This tool is an easy-to use fiber collection system that can be found on the Ideal Alpaca Community's website and uses the laboratories of Yocom-McColl to study fiber samples and produce detailed histograms. Yocom-McColl can then study the collected data and with the aid of experts at Virginia Tech create a data base that will allow this industry to more successfully breed to a higher quality fiber...

Don't Let Micron Madness Crimp Your Style
By Mike Safley
Today, people are going from state to state and farm to farm selecting alpacas, often with only one thought in mind - what is the micron count? I can tell you that a histogram is absolutely and unequivocally irrelevant as the basis of evaluation for two different animals from two different farms.

HaSu's Recipe for Shearing Success
By HaSu Ranch: Susan Muther
One of the most important days of an alpaca breeder's year is shearing day when the precious fiber is harvested. It is also the opportunity to measure whether the new generation of alpacas is producing better fiber than the generation before. A well organized shearing day should be a part of every well organized breeding program. We at HaSu Ranch want to help you make the most out of your shearing experience. Here are some tried and true tips that have worked for us.
Selecting Your Future by Selecting a Herdsire
By HaSu Ranch: Susan Muther and Hazen Reed
The quickest, most efficient way to improve your herd is to select a herdsire that furthers the goals of your breeding program. First you need to define those goals but then how do you choose a herdsire? What do you look for? Where do you look? Take the time to make the best choice you can for the future of your herd. You won't regret it.
Felting; An Ancient Art for a Modern Industry
By HaSu Ranch: Susan Muther and Linda Long
Felt is an easy alternate for processing fiber into a useful form. There are endless uses and forms of felt from luxurious clothing to padding for helmets to artwork. As breeders of fine fiber animals, we in the alpaca business would be wise to take advantage of the felting process to get the most out of our precious fiber yield. By broadening the range of uses for alpaca fiber we are hopefully increasing its marketability.
